What Is Chuseok? A Guide to Korean Thanksgiving

Chuseok is basically Korean Thanksgiving. It tends to fall sometime in late September or early October. But here in America, many Koreans actually celebrate it around American Thanksgiving. In Korea, families travel to see each other (just like American Thanksgiving!) and honor their ancestors. But really, both holidays are all about FOOD. If you are Korean, you like food. Lots and lots and lots of food. When Is Chuseok? Chuseok is a three-day Korean harvest festival celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. 2026: Chuseok will fall on Friday, September 25, with the holiday period from September … Read more

The Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 4 recap. Ji-Young has to compete in the most gruesome cooking contest of her life, where the stakes are her life (and/or both arms), all the while with three Gordon Ramseys up on the platform yelling down at her. Of course, she wins the contest. No one else in the entire palace can figure out the mother of the Dowager's signature doenjang soup. To boot, Ji-Young saves both of the other chefs. It's a good thing the tyrant King is in love with her because it would have been off with all three heads if this was real life.

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 4 Recap: “Course N° 4 **** and Spinach Doenjang Soup” [Joseon’s First Cooking Show]

In Episode 4 of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, Ji-Young faces a royal cooking contest where failure means losing her arms. She experiments with tofu, doenjang, and spinach to create a soup that moves even the Dowager to tears. Episode 4 shows her courage and the King’s conflicting emotions as food becomes both his weapon and his love language.

This Korean cucumber salad kimchi recipe is a quick, easy, and crunchy banchan. I basically just blanch fresh pickling cucumbers for a quick moment, let the cucumbers drain in a colander, and then throw them all together. It's one of the traditional Korean side dishes, with a bit of heat. I love adding these to my Korean table, but I also like adding them to regular salad for some zip.

Korean Cucumber Salad Kimchi Recipe (Oi Muchim Banchan 오이 무침)

This Korean cucumber salad kimchi is one of my favorite quick banchan to make. It’s crisp, spicy, and refreshing, with just enough salt and vinegar to brighten any meal. I love it because it comes together in minutes, without the long wait or mess of traditional cabbage kimchi. It’s great alongside bulgogi, spicy pork, or just plain rice when you want something with a little kick.

Here is my Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 3 recap. This episode ramps up some inner court politics, in particular how jelly Consort Kang is. The King tortures Ji-Young, mostly because he can. Cuz he's the King. We're supposed to be falling for him, but you can tell he's not a nice dude. I'm interested in seeing how Ji-Young changes him ... and changes history.

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 3 Recap: “Course N° 3 Haute Cuisine” [Unexciting But Still Okay]

Episode 3 of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty dives deeper into palace politics and jealousy. The King’s cruelty sharpens as he toys with Ji-Young, testing her spirit while punishing her for daring to speak her mind. Consort Kang seethes with envy, convinced her position is threatened by the mysterious gwinyeo who saved the King’s life. Meanwhile, Ji-Young and Gil-Geum are thrown into the royal kitchen, forced to navigate the vicious rivalries of cooks and concubines alike.

Here is one of my two favorite banchans, a spinach namul recipe. (My other favorite is mung bean sprouts.) This Korean side dish (sigeumchi namul) is tender, garlicky, and lightly seasoned with sesame oil, rice vinegar, and honey. It's also very easy to make. I could seriously just eat these two banchans with every single meal, Korean or American included. It also makes a very tasty addition to any kind of salad.

Korean Side Dish Spinach Namul Recipe (시금치나물 Banchan)

Spinach namul, or sigeumchi namul, is a simple Korean side dish made with lightly steamed spinach seasoned with sesame oil, garlic, rice vinegar, and a touch of honey. The spinach is quickly cooled in cold water to keep its bright color and tender texture. It’s often served with rice, bibimbap, or grilled meat, and it stores well in the refrigerator for a few days. Quick to prepare and easy to store, it’s a versatile side that complements rice, soup, or grilled food.

Here's my Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 1 recap. Yoona from Girls Generation breaks into another acting role with an obvious knockoff from the success of Mr. Queen. Let's see if she can carry this one.

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 2 Recap: “Course N° 2 Sous Vide Cuisine” [Getting Better]

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 2 opens with the chaos of the chaehong, a royal roundup of women. Ji-Young and Gil-Geum are captured and tossed into a prison full of terrified women. They eventually get thrown to making an elaborate meal for some guests, but everyone makes the same soup. Ji-Young takes over, negotiating their freedom if she can impress the guests. Her plan? A tough hunk of farm bull and a little twenty-first-century cooking science.

I had so much fun recreating this Gochujang Butter Bibimbap Recipe, from the hit Netflix k-drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty. I'm only about 50% on the actual show, but I totally loved the cooking. It's an interesting thing to see a Michelin-level star chef (I know it's make believe, and Yoona is not actually a chef) use her advanced knowledge for the good of the King's stomach.

How to Make Gochujang Butter Bibimbap Recipe from Bon Appétit, Your Majesty

Gochujang butter bibimbap combines the warmth of Korean comfort food with the richness of browned butter. Cooked white rice forms the base, topped with quick-pickled daikon radish, stir-fried carrots, steamed spinach, and dry-sautéed mushrooms. The centerpiece is a smooth gochujang butter sauce, made by whisking Korean chili paste into nutty brown butter until it turns glossy and fragrant. A softly poached egg rests on top

Here's my Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 1 recap. Yoona from Girls Generation breaks into another acting role with an obvious knockoff from the success of Mr. Queen. Let's see if she can carry this one. I haven't cared for her in the last few shows that she's been in because she's all looks, no substance in her acting.

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 1 Recap: “Course Nº 1 Gochujang Butter Bibimbap” [Okay Knockoff of Mr. Queen]

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 1 opens with Yeon Ji-Young tied up before King Yi Heon, accused of treason after daring to serve him an unfamiliar dish. Instead of execution, he shocks everyone by naming her chief royal chef. We then flashback to what happened, as she was transported from present day to Joseon. After many funny spar matches between the two, Ji-Young proves herself as a Michelin-star chef. She cooks barley rice with gochujang butter and poached egg for the wounded king. He calls it too spicy, yet keeps eating.

Like most pajeons (pancakes), this Korean sweet pumpkin pajeon recipe is not sweet (despite the name). That's because you cannot really taste the pumpkin in it. But Koreans like to use whatever is on hand to create food, if the different banchans can be a testament to that.

Korean Sweet Pumpkin Pajeon Recipe (단호박 파전)

Like most pajeons (pancakes), this Korean sweet pumpkin pajeon recipe is not sweet (despite the name). That’s because you cannot really taste the pumpkin in it. But Koreans like to use whatever is on hand to create food, if the different banchans can be a testament to that. Why I Love This Sweet Pumpkin Pajeon Recipe These pajeons get eaten as soon as they come off the plate. Something about how the sweet pumpkin kinda melts into the ingredients, giving it a natural sweetness. But it’s not overpowering, either. I want to emphasize that these pancakes are savory, not sweet. … Read more

John Grisham's class legal thriller was made into a TV series. I'm breaking down The Rainmaker Season 1 Episode 1 recap. I conservatively give this series a 3 out of 5 stars, mostly because they cast Lana Parrilla as Bruiser ... Bruiser was a man in the books, so this little twist is great. The first episode starts a bit on the slow side, but it got exciting with the last scene.

John Grisham’s class legal thriller was made into a TV series. I’m breaking down The Rainmaker Season 1 Episode 1 recap. Here's where the rubber meets the road. I'll explain in this Ballard Season 1 Episode 10 recap all the good, the bad, and the ugly from the season. The mechanics of this episode are superficial. I guess AI has taken over in the writers' room. Lots of plot holes, a flashy but predictable ending, Ballard yet again getting herself in trouble, and sprinklings of Harry Bosch to satisfy the fans because they obviously know this show isn't doing too well without him. 2.5 out of 5 stars for this episode, 2.5 out of 5 stars for the season.

Ballard Season 1 Episode 10 Recap & Review [The Finale Is Okay]

The season closes with Gary Pearlman’s confession and Ballard smashing his hand with Rawls’s kettlebell. The motive is spelled out: misogyny, control, punishing women for living on their own terms. Sarah wasn”t his daughter, so she became his target. Rawls’s funeral and and Ballard’s endless concussions pile on until the last blow: she is arrested for Olivas’s murder. And yet again, Ballard goes down a system that would rather bury her than back her.

I got the deets here in my Ballard Season 1 Episode 9 recap. This episode was the best of the season, particularly because of the major twist. Like, I didn't even expect it. I pretty much guessed who the killer was long before this episode ... I'll tell you in the Ending Explained section, below ... but how it went down was sad. 4 out of 5 stars for this episode.

Ballard Season 1 Episode 9 Recap & Review [Almost Good]

Episode 9 finally lands a gut punch. Naomi Bennett returns as the lone survivor, and her broken memory unlocks the truth: Gary Pearlman is the killer. The irony. This is the same family that fought Ballard every step, and it was the harboring the monster behind it all. Rawls’s death twists the knife. His arc from Pearlman’s lapdog to an actual ally gave him depth, and then he gets dropped by a bullet. The win feels hollow.

Here's The Rainmaker Season 1 Episode 3 recap for all the deets, including this totally wacko plotline. I'm hoping that the show producers planned on giving Rainmaker, aka Rudy Baylor, a brand new case for season 2. Because I'm not really sure this TV show is gonna make it. Also, I just have to say how much I dislike Sarah. The entirety of the drama surrounding the two of them is so far fetched and forced. And other than some off the rails killing for gratuity's sake, we don't really have much of a drama, legal or otherwise.

Here's The Rainmaker Season 1 Episode 2 recap. We follow Rudy from his disgraced fall but catapulted into a very large settlement, which the client turns down (with his encouragement). The A-team is now going to trial, it seems like. But there is something very fishy going on here, and I'm not talking the restaurant where Rudy and Deck eat at.

The Ballard Season 1 Episode 8 recap. The episode begins with Olivas, the night of Driscoll's attack on Ballard, and it ends with his long-awaited, very satisfying arrest. I was quite pleased to see that smug S.O.B. being taken down, even if I was totally expective that he would be. This episode is the best we've had so far, although it's still been quite vanilla with a bunch of gimmicky thrown in. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Ballard Season 1 Episode 8 Recap & Review [Better Still]

Olivas finally goes down, and it is the first time this season I felt an ending land. He plays family man at the ice cream shop, but Ballard and Bosch are across the street waiting to knock him off his pedestal. Martina risks herself, and Manny Santos flips. Santos’s confession seals it for Olivas. The arrest isn”t surprising, but watching that smug face drop was worth it. The lipstick clue keeps the Pearlman case alive.

My Ballard Season 1 Episode 7 recap. Harry Bosch makes his way back into the scene, taking a pivotal role as Ballard steals some of the evidence, then Harry dumps it onto what will be an active crime scene. Unfortunately, this also opens up another loose end that the writers did not address, so I'm beginning to suspect they are all amateurs. But the show has taken its roots and growing stronger each episode. I am looking up. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Ballard Season 1 Episode 7 Recap & Review [Even A Little Bit Better]

Ballard wakes up stitched and stubborn. She holes up at the Sand Dollar with a loaded bedside gun. Bosch appears like gravity. The Lee family cold case hits hard. Jun spirals. She talks him down and knocks the gun away, even as Nathan Kim reaches for it. And then the phone stunt works, for now, but the number it exposes makes her see red.

Here's the Ballard Season 1 Episode 6 recap. Ballard and the team are under a 72 hour clock, otherwise the Chief will take the Pearlman et al cases and transfer to homicide. We all know they aren't gonna make that timeline, to set us up for how the "all hope is lost" beat. But, you know, they still have this cartel/cop thing they need to deal with. And deal with it she does.

Ballard Season 1 Episode 6 Recap & Review [Better]

Episode 6 finally swings hard. The deadline is a setup, homicide circling like vultures. Ballard digs through souvenirs that lead nowhere, then the lab flips the table. Mike Garrison is a victim, not the killer. Parker is done hiding and confronts Olivas for rape and gaslighting. Abril gives the case a heartbeat. Driscoll makes it to Ballard’s house and tries to finish her. She turns the blade and breathes. The case is alive now. So is she.

It's taken 5 episodes to get there, but I'm happy to report in this Ballard Season 1 Episode 5 recap & review that the show has improved. It's still not the best show ... not Bosch level good ... but it has finally started getting there. If it continues to improve like this, I think I might finally recommend it by the season's end. Hopeful fingers crossed, because I love Maggie Q and want this to be a slam dunk win for her.

Ballard Season 1 Episode 5 Recap & Review [Okay]

Episode 5 finally moves. Ballard opens a storage unit tied to Mike Garrison and finds rows of boxes that feel like a graveyard. We also have Tony Montana circling like a shark. But his buddy Santos grows uneasy. Parker’s confession lands hard, not for pity, but because it explains her armor. For the first time, I believe this show might actually pull it off.

Here's my Ballard Season 1 Episode 4 recap & review. We've gone from blah back to meh. The police department politics, although I think are probably fairly accurate, is quite cumbersome and slow to get to the uptake. The effect is that it weighs the entire story down to the point that it's insufferable. Added to that, but they keep piling it on Ballard. They also quickly go through several different investigations, jumping around illogically, so you have to really pay attention to figure out what in the world they are working on. It's kind of a drag. 2 out of 5 stars.

Ballard Season 1 Episode 4 Recap & Review [Back to Meh]

Episode 4 wants to balance cartel conspiracies with Ballard’s personal demons, but the scale tips too far into Hell. Martina and Hatteras push Yulia’s story forward. That should be enough to carry the episode, but instead we get bogged down with Ken’s death, Ballard’s grief, Olivas lurking, and Parker’s simmering baggage. The recycled gun finally gives the show teeth, but the Tony Montana reveal feels silly, even as it cements the dirty cop pipeline.

We continue with Ballard Season 1 Episode 3 recap & review, which continues the meh and enters the blah. As if her LAPD politics aren't enough, she also has additional trauma about her dad dying. The writers pack it on way too thick, I think, and it's crushing even me. 1 out of 5 stars.

Ballard Season 1 Episode 3 Recap & Review [Blah]

Episode 3 drags us into frat house rot. Nick Thatcher’s fall wasn”t just a drunken stumble, it was wrapped in a culture of exploitation written down in disgusting detail. Meredith’s confession lands hard, which proves that sometimes solving cases isn’t the same as finding justice. Meanwhile, the dirty cop shifts his attention to Martina. And we all start to have an appreciation for Laffont, the steady eddie of the cold case unit.

I love to bake, but tbh, sometimes it requires so much work. This is why I love this pumpkin cream cheese dessert ... it's texture is very much like a pudding or a custard. But it's no fuss, no bake, and no watching a stovetop pan. I eat it when I'm craving a little, quick pumpkin spice in my life.

This is my best Korean retinol tea recipe. I love it as a hot tea, but it really shines if you put it in the fridge ... tea bags, barley, ginger, and honey in the container, basically to let it seep. I like to drink a cup of coffee in the morning, but then I sip this tea all day long. (I usually cut it off around 2:00 though because green tea does have caffeine in it.) It's simple to make, and if you don't want to make a fresh brew everyday, just throw it in the fridge, and heat a cup in the microwave!

Best Korean Retinol Tea Recipe … And It’s Not by Meryl Streep

Tea in Korean is 차 (cha), and it is part of daily life. My best Korean retinol tea recipe blends green tea, roasted barley, ginger, apple cinnamon, and honey into a drink that is simple, refreshing, and skin friendly. Some people call it “Meryl Streep Korean tea,” but that was just shade interesting marketing right there. The real tea is worth making at home, whether you drink it hot or chilled straight from the fridge.

My Ballard Season 1 Episode 2 recap and review. Honestly, I thought Ballard was going to be a little punchier because of the first episode's intro scene, a nifty chase scene with a shotgun. But it's turning out to be slow. Really slow. Without the chemistry that the other Bosch shows had between the characters. I consider this episode to be mainly filler.

Ballard Season 1 Episode 2 Recap & Review [Still Meh]

Ballard is circling suspects, but the episode feels like a slow shuffle compared to her shotgun debut. She takes harassment in stride, and plays politics with Pearlman while Parker chases down Frosty. The lifeguard shows up naked in front of Tutu, which is honestly more entertaining than half the case work. The real jolt comes at the end when the mysterious truck tailing Ballard is revealed to be driven by LAPD.

Ballard Season 1 Episode 1 Recap & Review: Renée Ballard kicks off her cold case unit with a shotgun, messy LAPD politics, Parker drama, and a cliffhanger DNA link to Harry Bosch.

Ballard Season 1 Episode 1 Recap & Review [Kinda Meh]

Renée Ballard storms into the series with a shotgun, shattering glass in a laundromat and knocking a suspect flat before we can even say “Maggie Q.” The LAPD wants her on a leash, but she’s already circling her new cold case unit with impatience. Council politics creep in, and then the cleaning lady turns up dead. Just when the story feels like it might stall, the DNA result slams the door open to a serial killer and Bosch’s unfinished work.

Can You Trademark a Phrase and Keep Others From Using It?

So can you trademark a phrase? Hell yes, you can. But why would you? Not every catchy line you scribble on a napkin qualifies for legal protection. If your phrase is distinctive, and you use it in commerce to identify your goods or services, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will let you protect it just like a logo or business name. But there’s more to it than that. Let’s cut through the legal noise and break down what actually works.

The difference between attorney and lawyer is one of those things everyone thinks they know until someone actually asks. Spoiler: the two terms are different. The TL;DR? An attorney is someone who passed a bar exam and has a professional license, while a lawyer is someone who graduated from law school and has a Juris Doctor (J.D.). You can be one or the other, or be both. Let's go into the deets below.

The Difference Between Attorney and Lawyer: Why It Actually Matters (And When It Doesn’t)

If you’ve ever wondered about the difference between attorney and lawyer, you’re not alone. These terms get thrown around interchangeably in TV shows, movies, and everyday conversation But is there an actual distinction? Yes, there is. Here’s my handy dandy guide to the word precision so you can impress your friends at trivia night. The TL;DR? Lawyers have graduated from law school and have a Juris Doctor (J.D.). Attorney have passed the bar exam and have a license to practice law.

Struggle meals are foods that stretch ingredients as far as possible. They are cheap, filling, and built out of whatever is available. The phrase is new, but the idea is not. Every culture has its own version of meals that came from hard times. And I think right now qualifies as one of those hard times. Prices of food are through the roof! You'll most likely will find a ton of versions of this budae jjigae recipe. It's known as Army base stew, and it has its origins from when food was scarce. Seriously, this is like the original struggle meal. I like the baked beans, not only because it gives it an authentic hint, but also it adds a bit of sweetness to pair with the saltiness of the spam and the tartness of the kimchi. But you can literally throw whatever you have on hand. Including whatever ramen noodles you have ... even those instant ramens you get in the Styrofoam cups.

Just like kimchi, every Korean mama has her own budae jjigae recipe. And every single one tastes just a wee bit differently. I created this recipe from all the ingredients that I love. I tried to keep it as close to the original as possible, but you can substitute almost anything. Don’t like one of the ingredients? Get rid of it! Love chili beans and not baked beans? Swap it out! Don’t think a Korean recipe shouldn’t have some kimchi in it? Add some! This recipe creates a beautiful base (pardon the pun) for all your Army Base budae jjigae cravings.

I started experimenting for the best essential oils for sugar scrub after I first encountered some in the women's bathroom. Some nice lady had made it and left it out for everyone to enjoy. Unlike most strong scents (aka the Body Shop's yucky stuff), this didn't make me break out or give me a migraine. I learned afterward about the wonderfulness of essential oils. They are natural, so less of a problem for those sensitive skinned and nose sensitive souls like myself.

But when cooked, especially in a dessert recipe like this one, they get an upgrade that bakes that bitter flavor right out.

When he crosses paths with Mu-deok, he notices something off about her and decides she’s the one who can train him, setting the stage for their uneasy alliance.

Goliath Season 4 Episode 8 Recap & Review

The finale hits hard. Billy’s haunted by Denise’s parting shot, “you’re dead to me.” And Brittney’s done with him too. Everyone he’s ever cared about has walked away, and maybe that’s fair. But there’s still a trial to finish, and Billy’s not going quietly. The jury hits Zax with a fourteen-billion-dollar verdict. Fourteen billion. Sounds like justice, but Billy knows it’s just a number. Sam’s career is toast. George promises revenge. Patty gives Billy a half-assed hug that says everything about their friendship. And then she walks away from him too.

Goliath Season 4 Episode 7 Recap & Review

Here’s my Goliath Season 4 Episode 7 recap. We finally get the courtroom drama we’ve been waiting for. Frank visits Kate in the psych ward, and then some legal fireworks start popping. Honestly, the Zax family makes the Manson clan look functional. Just goes to show you. Pharma is deadly. Goliath Season 4 Episode 7 Summary Prime summary: When Patty calls a surprise witness to the stand, the defense does everything they can to undermine the witness’s credibility. The last two episodes are what we’ve all been waiting for … some bad ass courtroom drama scenes. But first, Frank visits … Read more

Goliath Season 4 Episode 6 Recap & Review

The title of this episode fits. Frank visits Kate in the psych ward where George dumped her, because when you’re rich enough, you can literally imprison your problems. Billy and Patty plot from the sidelines, deciding to put Frank on the stand. It’s bold and stupid in equal measure. Predictably, it backfires when the defense tears Frank apart for being “crazy.” George sits in court smirking like the devil, proving that evil doesn’t need charisma, just power.

Goliath Season 4 Episode 5 Recap & Review

This one kicks off with some deranged cartoon about opioids, because subtlety’s dead. Billy, finally realizing he can’t fight the beast alone, teams up with Don Cooperman. Yes, that Don Cooperman. The two hate each other, but shared rage makes strange bedfellows. Don wants Zax Pharma’s blood, not their money. Billy just wants to feel like he’s still capable of doing something right.

Goliath Season 4 Episode 4 Recap & Review

Tom’s last call comes through like a ghost: “Trust Billy.” Moments later, he’s dead. Murdered? Maybe. Billy wants to quit, but the contract’s ironclad. He’s stuck, so he keeps swinging. Patty’s life is falling apart too, mostly thanks to her mother Crystal, who might be the worst human being on the planet. Meanwhile, Zax Pharma’s family dysfunction hits biblical levels. George is a monster. Frank’s his broken mirror. The company’s rotting from the inside.

Goliath Season 4 Episode 3 Recap & Review

Sam and Rob’s engagement party is the kind of rich-people nightmare where everyone’s pretending to like each other. Patty and Billy settle one piece of the case for six hundred million, but Billy knows it’s too easy. You don’t hand over that much money unless you’re hiding something worse. Patty gets her big promotion to equity partner, and you can practically see her soul leaving her body. Billy realizes he’s trapped in a story he started and never finished. It’s less about justice and more about self-loathing now.

Goliath Season 4 Episode 2 Recap & Review

We kick off with a literal musical number starring George Zax, the pharma prick behind the pills. It’s so on-the-nose it’s almost funny. Patty’s pissed because Billy keeps freelancing when he should be kissing ass at the firm. She’s gone full corporate shark, snapping at anyone who breathes wrong, but you almost get it. She’s survived this long by fighting everything. By the time the credits roll, we know everyone’s lying to everyone else. Sam’s feeding Zax insider info, and George is plotting stock scams. Billy’s the only one who still gives a damn, and even that’s debatable.

Goliath Season 4 Episode 1 Recap & Review

Billy McBride is somehow still alive after last season’s bullet to the gut, and frankly, it’s a miracle he’s vertical. Patty has clawed her way up into some fancy-ass San Francisco firm with a case that’s supposed to take down the opioid industry. She drags Billy along because apparently she thinks he still gives a shit. He doesn’t. He’s limping through life, half haunted, fully drunk, with these ridiculous Wild West dream sequences that look like someone took too much acid.

Goliath Season 3 Episode 3 Recap & Review

Patty kicks off the episode by saying the one thing we’ve all wanted to say about the Blackwoods. Live, on the air, and straight from the gut. Billy’s stuck at the casino trying to get an NDA while Patty’s out chasing plaintiffs. Diana’s creeping around town like she owns everyone’s soul (she probably does, since she has all the water), and somehow she already knows Patty is pregnant. I’d call it intuition, but it feels more like witchcraft.

So we’re onto Goliath Season 3 Episode 2. The weird just keeps getting weirder. Billy’s stuck in Diana’s wellness nightmare. Wade’s bathing in almond milk like that’s a normal thing, when other people can't even get any fucking drinking water. The people here turn greed into performance art while Billy keeps doing what he does best: walking straight into trouble with his eyes open.

Goliath Season 3 Episode 2 Recap & Review

Billy wakes up in the Blackwood Enrichment Center, which looks like a wellness cult. Except Diana has turned almonds into a religion. Anton drives him around in an almond-shaped cart and casually mentions Denise. This is not good. Marisol walks in with Matthew, and Billy watches from the corner.

Here's my Goliath Season 3 episode 1 recap. The season opens with a literal hole in the ground. Gene wants to sue the water barons who turned the valley into Swiss cheese. Water is like contraband, and no one can leave. But it isn't really about the water. It’s about control. The people who hoard it, the ones who lose it, and the ones who think they can buy redemption with a dam.

Goliath Season 3 Episode 1 Recap & Review

Billy’s finds a message scrawled behind the mirror: “The last person you will see before you die is you. Wade Blackwood is the local kingpin, charming as poison. There’s talk of subsidence, but it’s greed and politics that keep the ground sinking. When Billy gets that ceramic owl from Bobbi’s workshop, we already know it’s a ghost’s gift.

This is my Goliath Season 2 Episode 8 recap for the season end. Billy finally pieces it together. Marisol lured him to Mexico to get him out of the way, and now she’s standing onstage celebrating her new title as mayor. The same people who kidnapped him are standing behind her in suits. The Broker’s on the phone making silent moves. Billy realizes that everything he thought he understood is gone.

Goliath Season 2 Episode 8 Recap & Review

In this episode, everyone’s crossing lines they can’t uncross. Tom and Brittany’s twisted sex game goes off the rails fast. She wants out, but Tom’s too deep into his own sick fantasies. Meanwhile, Denise spirals at home, drinking and replaying Marisol’s victory speech like punishment. Patty and Brittany try to patch things up, but Patty’s relationship with Jeff crashes when he discovers she stole Keith Roman’s burner phone. And then there is Billy. He’s just Billy, but at least he gets some closure by talking to Marisol.

The Goliath Season 2 Episode 7 recap. Billy wakes up in a strange house somewhere in Mexico, no clue how he got there. Some woman named Janet is next to him, chatty and clueless. Around them are gun-holding thugs waiting for “the word.” The cinematography keeps fading in and out like someone’s testing your patience. Billy wants tea, of course to throw it in someone's face. Let's see if he pulls it off.

Goliath Season 2 Episode 7 Recap & Review

The violence ratchets up fast. Elena loses her nose to Hook Man … quite literally … and Loomis loses his ear. Both scenes are stomach-turning. Patty and Denise finally locate Billy, hidden under a truck bed, half-dead but alive. JT pays a smuggler to haul him out of Mexico. As they drive off, you can feel the shift. The season’s wrapping up its loose ends with a lot of blood and no apologies. Although it really should. I can’t get this hour of my life back.

Read up on my Goliath Season 2 Episode 6 recap. In Mexico, Billy thinks he’s on vacation. Marisol wants to show him her past, but it's soaked in blood. Gabriel smiles while his men murder Julio in prison. Roman dies trying to protect his family. Patty and JT scramble to find help. Billy gets the call too late, standing in the sun with a bottle of wine and no idea his client is dead.

Goliath Season 2 Episode 6 Recap & Review

This episode cuts deep. Billy’s in Mexico, lost in Marisol’s charm, while everything at home crashes and burns: Roman’s body is found, and Julio is executed in his cell. Patty keeps calling … screaming into a phone that Billy doesn’t answer. And we finally get some disgusting details that made me legit want to throw up in my mouth.

My Goliath Season 2 Episode 5 recap. Gabriel’s opening story turns out to be about Marisol, and it sets the tone. Billy’s working angles to free Julio, Roman’s ready to talk, and the system’s closing ranks. Patty’s meeting with Jeff is part romance, part power play. Tom’s obsession with Brittany gets darker.

Goliath Season 2 Episode 5 Recap & Review

Billy finally finds someone who can prove Julio’s innocence, but the man refuses to talk unless he gets a deal. Roman wants out, but the feds are sniffing around. Marisol visits Julio in prison, pretending to care while tightening her grip on everything. Billy leaves town with her, ignoring every warning sign.

The Goliath Season 2 Episode 4 recap. The cartel storyline finally bleeds into Billy’s case, and Gabriel proves how ruthless he is. Meanwhile, Tom spirals. Billy wins a suppression hearing, grilling Roman on why the murder weapon turned up weeks late. The evidence may stay in, but the cracks are widening.

Goliath Season 2 Episode 4 Recap & Review

Billy’s risky suppression play rattles everyone. Roman sweats through testimony about the gun. Gabriel gives Tom a new assignment: kill Julio. Marisol’s charm turns cold when Billy brings up the cartel. The episode closes with Billy at Roman’s door, calling him out for framing Julio. Roman’s silence says everything.

The Goliath Season 2 Episode 3 recap. Billy brings his lead to court and convinces the judge to pull in Tito Garcia. Within hours, the shooter’s arrested, deported, and allegedly “lost” by the FBI. We also have Patty’s attack and a cop totally unraveling. Surprise of all surprises, the murder weapon turns up right when the cops need it most.

Goliath Season 2 Episode 3 Recap & Review

Everything goes sideways fast. Billy’s witness disappears into government custody, Patty’s assaulted, and the cops conveniently “find” the murder weapon. Marisol pretends to be helpful. You know this woman is up to no good. I mean Billy is the man, but still. The episode has cops, politicians, and the FBI all playing their parts while Billy tries to hold the line with nothing but instinct and whiskey.

My Goliath Season 2 Episode 3 recap. Billy takes Julio’s case out of guilt and stubborn loyalty. Patty joins only after making Billy promise to keep Brittany away. The prosecution waves new “evidence,” a security video showing Julio with a gun. But Billy knows how unreliable that is. Meanwhile, Roman pays off the real shooter, and everyone scrambles to find the missing weapon. Marisol keeps up her saint act while plotting in the background.

Goliath Season 2 Episode 2 Recap & Review

We start with drugs, money, and murder before cutting to Billy drowning his guilt. Oscar’s dead, and Patty reluctantly signs on to help Julio. Nothing gets Billy’s lawyer blood pumping than whiskey and blood. The cops and politicians are neck-deep in corruption. The video of Julio is weak, the gun is missing, and the prosecutor’s plea deal screams desperation. By the end, Billy’s drinking again, and Marisol’s at his door looking heartbroken and suspicious.

Here's my Goliath Season 2 Episode 1 recap. Billy’s back, sort of. He’s drunk, bitter, and living at the motel next to Chez Jay. When Oscar Suarez walks him home, we learn Oscar’s last living son, Julio, has been arrested for murder. Billy insists he doesn’t do capital cases but agrees to look. Meanwhile, Marisol Silva enters the picture, running for mayor and tied to Julio. By the end, Oscar’s shot in the street. Welcome to season two.

Goliath Season 2 Episode 1 Recap & Review

The season opens with Billy at rock bottom emotionally but rich as shit from the winnings of last season. Chez Jay is still his watering hole, and Brittany tries to make peace after betraying him. Oscar Suarez asks for help when his teenage son Julio is accused of killing two people. Billy says he doesn’t touch murder cases but can’t quite walk away, because this is his buddy (and bartender). The deeper he looks, the dirtier it gets. By the end, Oscar’s dead, and Billy’s pulled into another nightmare.

Have you ever embarked on a reading journey that felt like a leisurely stroll when you were expecting a thrilling race? That's the feeling I got from The Final Case by David Guterson, a tale that had me looking for the plot through a maze of meandering narratives. ????????

Book Review of The Final Case by David Guterson

Here is my review of Book Review of The Final Case by David Guterson. The book is about an octogenarian named Royal, who must get driving assistance from his son to help with the trial of Betsy Harvey, who, along with her husband Delvin, were accused of the abuse, torture, and murder of their adopted daughter, Abigail (Abebe). I give this book 2 out of 5 stars. This book, although it contains courtroom scenes, is not a legal fiction. Rather, this book is written in a style of memoir, stream-of-consciousness, and meandering. It has about zero drama or information. When … Read more

The Goliath Season 1 Episode 8 recap: The final showdown delivers every messy payoff this season promised. The jury verdict hits like a sledgehammer: $162 million in fraud damages. Wendell tries to negotiate, but Billy plays the long game, recording the confession and giving it to the FBI. The season closes with arrests, fallout, and one quiet moment with Billy and his dog.

Goliath Season 1 Episode 8 Recap & Review

The finale gives us chaos from the start. Brittany betrays Billy. Donald’s courtroom appearance ends in a medical emergency. Billy’s closing statement lands better than Callie’s, but it’s the jury that seals the story. One dollar for pain and suffering, a hundred grand for damages, and a massive $162 million for fraud. Billy wins the case, exposes the corruption, and hands it all to the FBI.

All the deets in the Goliath Season 1 Episode 7 recap. Billy and Patty finally face off in court, but Patty’s opening lands flat. Callie plays dirty with Lucy’s backstory, using it to prop up her defense. Meanwhile, Donald and Wendell explode even bigger than the one that started this entire trial. Wendell exposes Donald on the stand, waiving privilege and dragging everyone down with him. By the end, Callie’s sitting on a single witness, and it’s the last person Billy ever expected: Brittany Gold.

Goliath Season 1 Episode 7 Recap & Review

Every alliance falls apart this episode. Lucy gets canned, Michelle bails on Callie, Wendell torches Donald in open court. Billy pushes straight to trial while Patty flounders through her opening. The fisherman’s credibility sinks, and Ned’s testimony only adds fuel to that bomb. By the time Callie shows up with her final witness list, it’s down to one name that breaks Billy’s alliance. Brittany Gold.

My Goliath Season 1 Episode 6 recap. Billy brings the recovered model from the time capsule straight to the judge. He explains that their evidence has been compromised and that someone broke into their storage unit. The judge takes the warning seriously but makes no promises. Meanwhile, Callie’s legal team debates strategy, still unaware that Donald is monitoring everything. Patty and Billy talk about the sex tape and the fallout from using it. Billy drinks too much that night and calls Rachel, leaving a quiet, painful voicemail.

Goliath Season 1 Episode 6 Recap & Review

The episode opens with a surreal dream of Donald Cooperman staring into a mirror, his burn scars gone. In the vision, Billy flicks a cigarette, and Donald bursts into flames. It sets the tone for a story about power and destruction. Back in reality, Brittany shows Billy the revenge porn tape, proof that Borns Tech’s witness is morally compromised. Later, during Gina Larson’s deposition, Billy pushes too hard and gets roughed up. Kelly threatens contempt, confusing it with sanctions, which is legally sloppy.

The Goliath Season 1 Episode 5 recap! Callie and Donald argue over control of the depositions. Donald wants Lucy to take the lead, a decision that makes everyone uncomfortable. During the questioning, Lucy lashes out at Billy, trying to rattle him. Billy fires back with a smirk, pushing her off script. The tension breaks when Ned accidentally admits to making a revenge porn video of his ex-girlfriend titled “taste like chicken.” The deposition spirals into chaos as Callie scrambles to contain the damage.

Goliath Season 1 Episode 5 Recap & Review

The episode opens with Donald and Lucy in the shower together, a scene that sets the tone for how twisted their relationship has become. Back in Billy’s world, the Creeper tries to plant drugs to set him up. Billy catches on fast and goes to visit one of the fishermen in prison, trying to understand how the smuggling scheme connects to Borns Tech. The man’s silence tells him enough. Someone high up wants this case buried, and they are willing to destroy him to do it.

Here's the Goliath Season 1 Episode 4 recap. In court, Billy brings up Rachel’s death. Lucy leaps up to object, sparking a loud argument with Callie. The judge watches with annoyance as the two women take verbal swings at each other. Outside the courtroom, Billy meets with Jason to ask about his father’s final days. Jason insists his dad was fine before his death, but Gina hands over a suicide note that throws everything into confusion. The note casts doubt on Billy’s entire case theory.

Goliath Season 1 Episode 4 Recap & Review

Lucy preps for court while Donald Cooperman watches her every move from behind his glass wall. She dries her armpits with a hair dryer, a weird mix of nerves and humiliation. Donald studies her like an insect under glass. Later, he and Callie visit Borns Tech headquarters. Leonard and Wendell argue about letting them in. Leonard finally shows Callie classified data proving they were testing a weapon system without Pentagon approval. The visit rattles everyone involved.

Goliath Season 1 Episode 3 Recap & Review

Billy McBride opens the episode pressed for time. The judge gives him one day to prove his case has merit or lose it entirely. Rachel lies in the morgue while Billy tells her story to anyone who will listen. The show cuts to a shadowy figure making a phone call about the car used to run her down, hinting that her death was no accident. Billy and Patty try to pay their respects at the funeral but are thrown out by Gina, who is furious and grieving in equal measure.

Here's Goliath Season 1 Episode 2 recap. Billy’s scrambling to revive his wrongful death case after it’s dismissed without prejudice.

Goliath Season 1 Episode 2 Recap & Review

Goliath Season 1 Episode 2 opens with Billy fresh out of jail and already losing ground. The lawsuit’s tossed, and worse, his car’s trashed. Cooperman ups the jackassery to put some screws to Billy. Patty’s shouting about malpractice. It’s a mess of ego and legal chaos that somehow lands right back in his lap.

The Goliath Season 1 Episode 1 recap. In the show premier, we meet down-and-out lawyer Billy. Patty hands him a case, and Billy thinks it has good bones.

Goliath Season 1 Episode 1 Recap & Review

The pilot of Goliath wastes no time throwing Billy into disaster. The wrongful death suit is dead on arrival, and half the cast is either caustic, high, corrupt, or both. Somewhere between the courtroom and the beach, Billy remembers why he quit law, and also why he cannot walk away. Dark humor and broken people make this one strangely addictive.

So while store-bought gifts are always appreciated, there’s something special about a handmade … Read more

Can I lose custody for dating a felon? I'm not judging you at all. But you know, there are a lot of fish in the sea.  However, the short answer is: possibly, depending on the circumstances. When a parent begins a relationship with someone who has a felony conviction, family courts may view that relationship as a potential risk to the child’s safety and stability. If the other parent raises the issue in court, the judge can consider the felon’s record as a factor in modifying custody. That means dating a felon could complicate custody arrangements, or in some cases, even result in losing custody altogether.

Coconut oil has many practical uses for the body, from skincare to haircare and beyond. I usually buy a refined, organic version (Nature’s Promise) at the grocery store since I do not like the strong coconut smell of the unrefined type. Both refined and unrefined coconut oil are available, and I prefer the organic, cold-pressed option when possible. One jar lasts me for months, though I do not use it for cooking. (I usually cook with sesame seed and olive oils.)

I buy refined, organic coconut oil at the grocery store because I hate the strong coconut smell of unrefined versions. But it’s super cheap on Amazon. You can grab either type, but refined works better if you want something neutral.

Here it is installed.  Nice and neat, but also nice … Read more

(Just insert all nice pictures of the kids.) In an attempt to organize, I put my music CDs and movie DVDs into zipper binders. I had piles upon piles of CD and DVD jewel cases left. I didn’t want to throw them out, so I decided to see if I could make a nice gift for the holidays.
